Product Instructions
Directions: Stovetop: Servings 1: 1-1/2 cups water (or milk)(†); 1/4 cup steel cut oats; Dash salt (optional). Servings 2: 2 cups water (or milk)(†); 1/2 cup steel cut oats; 1/8 tsp salt (optional). Servings 6: 6 cups water (or milk)(†); 1-1/2 cups steel cut oats; 1/4 tsp salt (optional). Microwave: Servings 1: 2 cups water (or milk)(†); 1/2 cup steel cut oats; Dash salt (optional). (†) For thicker oatmeal use less water. For thinner oatmeal use more water.
Stovetop: 1. Bring water or milk to a boil in a medium saucepan. 2. Stir in steel cut oats and reduce heat to medium-low. 3. Simmer uncovered 25 to 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until liquid is absorbed and steel cut oats are tender.
Microwave: 1. Mix 1/2 cup of steel cut oats with 2 cups of water in an 8-cup microwave-safe bowl (the size of the bowl is important as it must be large enough to allow the oats to bubble up without spilling over). 2. Cover and microwave at full power for 5 minutes. 3. Stir and finish cooking for another 5 minutes (as microwaves vary in size and power, cooking times may need to be adjusted). Caution: Product and container may be hot.
Prepare Ahead By Soaking Overnight: Boil 4 cups of water in a pot. Add 1 cup of steel cut oats and simmer 1 minute. Cover pot and store overnight in refrigerator. The next morning, cook the oatmeal on low for 9 to 12 minutes, stirring occasionally.
